The HALT Community Wellbeing Walk is a 6-day fundraising walk from Monday the 8th of April to Saturday the 13th of April 2019 across 210km of the Goldfields track from Bendigo to Mt Buninyong, just outside of Ballarat. This walk is a major fundraiser event for HALT and we are aiming to raise $50,000. Registrations are now open, with a registration fee of $200.

Starting from Bendigo, we’ll walk through old Goldfields towns including Harcourt, Fryerstown, Hepburn springs, Daylesford, Creswick and Ballarat and finish at Mt Buninyong. Across the 5 nights, our intrepid HALT walkers will be billeted in houses to ensure we are well-rested for the following day’s walk. The HALT walkers will be required to carry a medium-sized pack with sufficient water, fruit, nuts and first aid kit for each day’s walk, but there will also be a support vehicle close by at all times.

Those hardy and brave souls that agree to partake in this walk will also be required to individually raise money for HALT. We are asking people to aim high and set themselves the challenge of raising $2,000. Of course, if you don’t get to that figure, never fear, we still want you to come with us! Just give it your best shot, that’s all we ask!

Where will all the money that is raised go?

HALT is all about grassroots community connection, so that’s where the money will go:

  1. HALT events and speaking presentations
  2. HALT suicide prevention training (45 minutes)
  3. safeTALK training (3-4 hours)

(These three options will be offered to the towns we are hiking through or near.)

If we reach $50,000, it will enable us to employ a part-time HALT worker who will work between Bendigo and Ballarat for 12 months.

We would love to have you come along with us on our inaugural HALT Community Wellbeing Walk! To register your interest, please fill out this form and we’ll get back to you.
